PoTatoe Sack Race/ 3 Legged Race
How to play:
- Draw a red card to see how many laps you must complete the circuit.
- Start at one cone and hop/run/gallop to the other cone and back!

Outdoor PlAy
When children are outside they move more, sit less and play longer. These are behaviours associated with improved cholesterol levels, blood pressure, body composition, bone density, cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal fitness and aspects of mental, social and environmental health.
How can we encourage more outdoor play?
- PARENTS: Encourage your children to engage more fully with their outdoor environments in a variety of weather conditions. When children are supported to take risks, they have more fun and learn how to assess and manage risk in all areas of their lives.
- PROVINCAL AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS: Work together to create an environment where Public Entities are protected from frivolous lawsuits over minor injuries related to normal and healthy outdoor risky active play. An increased investment in natural play spaces in all neighbourhoods is encouraged.
Badminton Bowling
How to Play:
- Practice keeping the birdy up or catching the ball with the scoops by yourself.
- Practice passing the birdy or ball back and forth with a partner.
- Try to knock down the bowling pins with your birdy or ball!

- This game works on the fundamental movement skills of striking and accuracy.
- This game engages all participants throughout the activity.
- The game is inclusive by design because progressions and skill development are built into the game!
FUNdamental Movement Skills
Just as a child must learn the alphabet before they can read, children must learn the fundamental movement skills before they can play sports and games!

Roll the Dice
How to play:
- Roll the dice to determine what colour you will be playing with.
- Throw the matching beanbags through the matching coloured hoop hanging from the tree.
- Try throwing the ball:
- Close vs far from the hoop
- With non-dominant hand
- On one leg
How is it physically literate?
- This game works on the fundamental movement skills of throwing, balance and coordination.
- The game is inclusive by design because children are able to choose how and where they throw the beanbag.
- Failure is encouraged in this game.

Chicken Toss
How to play:
- Start by tossing the rubber chickens up in the air and catching them by the head, then neck then feet.
- Walk from one cone to the next and try balancing the chicken on your head.
- Try doing a chicken kick flip. Place the chicken on your foot (toes) and flip it up and catch it!

- This game works on the fundamental movement skills of balance, catching, throwing and coordination.
- This game engages ALL participants throughout the activity.
- The game is inclusive by design because children are challenged by choice.
SWEAT = 60 mins of heart-pumping physical activity daily!
SLEEP= 8-11hrs of sleep is required every night for kids ages 5-17!
SIT= No more than 2hrs of screen time daily!
BubblE Pop
How to play:
- 1 friend blows bubbles while the other friend tries to pop them with their hand, feet, head, back etc…
- Blow the bubbles and try to pop them by throwing a ball at them.
- Try blowing bubbles and hula hooping at the same time!
